Technical Lead – Decision Support Center
Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems. We are engineers and technicians. Skilled scientists and thinkers. Bold innovators and dreamers. Join us, and you can build something better for yourself, for our customers and for the world.
The Boeing Company is seeking for a Technical Lead – Decision Support Center role to join our team in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
This role requires active leadership of development activities; from technical team task management to resolving complex technical issues, requiring a high degree of technical knowledge in the breath of modelling and simulation technology areas. Excellent communications skills and the ability to provide technical leadership within a highly talented small team are essential. The position is office based but may require short-term travel to customer sites and/or Boeing international facilities.
This is a Technical Lead role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
• Operational oversight of the DSC technical environment
Based on direction from the Country Manager, the Technical Lead is expected to oversee the technical operation of the DSC environment, ensuring all operating systems, software applications and technical architectures are operational. This includes integration of new technologies in a consistent way that grows the environment, integrates with existing capability in order to provide a highly flexible and evolving environment and that users have adequate knowledge and training on the technologies for maximum utilization.
• Technical requirements analysis and execution assurance
The key function this role provides is responsibility for the delivery of the technical requirements in support of execution of Boeing analysis projects within the DSC. The Technical lead ensures technical projects are planned with accurate estimates and within achievable technical constraints; and then oversees successful execution.
This process involves:
o Supporting experiment requirements definition alongside the Operations Analysis staff, then developing technical solutions to support experimentation delivery to a suitable level of fidelity to answer questions posed and influence programs
o Decomposing the technical requirements required to deliver the experimentation output, including the core process and information exchange requirements and translating to individual system components
o Setting technical goals for activities, identifying technical modelling and simulation architectures and components’ functionality and development tasks required
o Writing system requirements to answer the stated work task order delivered by the relevant Operations Analyst, including test plans, unit, integration/interfacing, system and acceptance tests
o Verification and Validation of technical element of experimental architectures to required levels of fidelity
o Management of technical framework for the experiment
o Delivery of technical metrics in support of the analysis process
This position is to deliver the technical architect role to experiments conducted by the Boeing team to ensure “fit for purpose”. Use of technology is driven by the Technical Lead and not the Operations Analysts or business unit member (albeit requirements to be sourced from these parties).
In addition to technically managing DSC programs, the technical lead is to personally contribute to the delivery of components for experimentation. This includes “hands on” configuration of simulation solutions, scenarios, behaviors, development of simulation software, and the development of new functionality within modelling and simulation tools. In addition, working with the skilled simulation engineers, the technical lead is responsible for managing the integration of numerous simulation components and ensuring simulations developed meet experimental needs.
• Research – Prototyping and New Technology
Define and maintain the KSA DSC elements of the PW-I Technology Roadmap that identifies future technologies based on customer requirements and monitors their potential impact on DSC processes and capabilities. Technical Lead is to actively liaise with wider PW-I Chief Engineer and other engineering technical staffs to define, manage and execute technology development activities to meet Boeing program needs in advance of tasking.
• Technical Process
This role mandates and enforces technical process within the research and development environment of the DSC. Although a highly creative environment, strong guidance via process is required to ensure development is focused.
Processes for which this role is responsible include:
o The DSC agile software development methodology and utilization process
o The DSC tool selection/development process that defines how the “buy versus build” decision is made to satisfy capability development requirements. This process also describes how tool evaluation is carried out in the event a buy decision is made.
o Maintaining the approved list of development tools used in the DSC development and decision support environment
This requisition is for an international, locally hired position. Pay and benefits are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll. Relocation benefits are available. Successful candidates must be Saudi nationals or be able to obtain and maintain legal authorization to work in Saudi Arabia for continued employment. The company will support the employee and administer the immigration process, but the candidate is ultimately responsible to obtain legal authorization as such authorization is determined by Saudi Arabia based on the applicant's education and personal background.
