Job Description
My client a large inte
ational contractor has an immediate opening for a Construction Manager (Mechanical) for a large project in Saudi Arabia.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
An Academic degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar and / or a recognized professional qualification.
Minimum Experience Required:
Over 20-years, documented Construction experience in a variety of major inte
ational Petrochemical / Oil & Gas or other related mechanical projects involving in-depth knowledge of a multi - discipline environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Plans and supervises the major functions of the construction which include the responsibility for the planning and co-ordination of all manpower and equipment, materials supplies, and sub-contracted services, towards the proper completion of the work on schedule with approved drawings, specifications, cost and quality limitations.
* Monitors Sub-contractors at each stage of the work to ensure proper compliance with all technical aspects of the contract through both individual contacts and co-ordination meetings.
* Drafts for the signature of the Project Manager all correspondence to the Client and/or Sub-contractors related to his section of the project.
* Reviews all Method Statements dealing with his area of responsibility prior to issue to the Client.
* Participates in or (subject to the Project Manager delegation) leads in discussion of all contractual matters related to Sub-contractors employed on his section of the project.
*Checks and authorizes all claims for payment from all Sub-contractors involved in his section of the project to assure accuracy and that proper contractual obligations are met. Passes them to the Commercial Manager/Control Manager for payment.
* Assists in the procurement of permanent and non permanent materials required for the proper completion of the work on schedule.
* Reviews all engineering design drawings of his section of the project before passing them for use to his group.
* Directs and supervises his project engineers in the performance of all aspects of their work.
* Exercises strict control over costs of construction particularly the use of labor, materials and equipment. This includes reviewing variances from budgeted expenditure and recommends/initiates action to bring them under control.
* Discusses and resolves daily site problems with site supervisors.
* Monitors construction progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and provides input to the regular reports of the Project Manager.
* Maintains functional links with other unit heads in the project, particularly with the Accounts and Administration units.
* Makes forward plans in his section of the project for the release of equipment, personnel employed, and general Demobilization.
