JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Purpose:
To respond in fire alarms and other emergency calls to protect life and company property. Operates and maintains all fire prevention control panels, fire apparatus, equipment’s and firefighting pumps, including foam and deluge systems and other firefighting equipment and facilities. Participates in training, drill and independent studies; participates in fire prevention inspections and public education activities.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responds to a wide variety of emergency alarms by driving fire apparatus and operates engines, connects lines and monitors and, setting and adjusting controls to ensure proper water flow; briefs and advises adjacent shift apparatus operators on status of equipment; monitors and performs various duties to ensure the emergency response readiness of fire apparatus and vehicles.
· In addition to performing the specialized Fire Engineer duties described above, Fire Engineers are expected to be capable of performing all of the essential duties of the Firefighter class.
· Participates in various support assignments, including but not limited to the maintenance of inventory records, scheduled inspections of department equipment, hydrant inspections and maintenance and fire flow testing; ordering, inventory and issuance of safety equipment, the preparation and maintenance of department maps and pre-fire plans, and the preparation of specifications for new equipment and apparatus.
· Participates in the training of fire personnel in the safe and proper operation and maintenance of all Fire Department apparatus and electrical panels.
· Assists the fire fighters in preventing, dousing and reducing any dangers related to fires by discussing to employees the fire safety rules and regulations and suggesting modifications as and when needed.
· Administer and oversees the acquisitions, modification, testing, and ensures fire equipment and fire protection systems are working properly.
· Ensures that the fire protection systems and alarm schemes are regularly functional in order to protect human lives and belongings from fires in line with the policies and regulations of the fire department; Studying and evaluating the fire protection systems in order to ensure that the right methods have been devised to combat fire problems and issues.
QUALIFICATION:
· Engineering or equivalent technical degree
· 7+ years of experience in firefighting systems or equivalent.
· Certification course in fire science, including fire hydraulics, fire apparatus and equipment operation, fire tactics and strategy or Fire Command 1A and B.
· Good command of English language (both oral and written). Arabic a plus
· Microsoft Office user.
