JOB PURPOSE
During transition from T-65 to T-165, the MPDS Administrator will liaise with the Instructor Standards Team (IST) and manage the daily running of the Mission Support System (MSS).
During SD, the MPDS Administrator will administer all aspects of the MSS and ensure that software, map content and GTOPS content operates correctly and is up to date.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
During transition, the IST Supervisor is the line manager for the MPDS Administrator.
During SD, the MPDS Supervisor will be the line manager for the MPDS Administrator.
Under the guidance of the IST / MPDS Supervisor, the MPDS Administrator is to:
Maintain the MSS network, hardware and software to ensure daily O&AT activities are supported.
Download mission data and protect it.
Apply updates to the mapping / DTED / DAFIF etc.
Create and administer flight critical databases (Weights and Balance, Radio Frequencies, Navigation Libraries, Threat Libraries etc)
Manage directory and sub-directory architecture.
Manage storage and administer user privileges.
Assist IPs with training content irregularities during the working period.
Assist the MPDS Supervisor with the delivery of the required training for Flight Operations (Flt Ops) personnel on the MPDS.
Maintain a Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of knowledge on the MPDS, the Map Preparation System (MPS) and the GPWS TERPROM and Obstacle Preparation System (GTOPS).
Provide SME support to the MPDS Sup for training syllabi and courseware development.
Assist the MPDS Supervisor the development of MSS user guides.
The IST (KFAB) Supervisor or MPDS Supervisor will provide direction to the MPDS Administrator for all work related tasks, such as:
Administration of flight critical databases.
Updates of Mapping, DTED, DAFIF etc.
Operator induced problems.
Training of Flt Ops personnel on MPDS, MPS and GTOPS.
SME support for training syllabi and courseware development.
Operational use of the MPDS for the schedule.
Under the guidance of the MPDS Supervisor, the MPDS Administer has the authority to develop working guides to support the MPDS Administrator Job Description.
The MPDS Administrator will assist the MPDS Supervisor with the development, validation and delivery of IP and Ops (IT) personnel training on the MPDS during the SD phase.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Must be educated to O/HNC level or recognised equivalent or have relevant experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training.
Must have experience in a Flight Operations (Flt Ops) environment with direct exposure to flight planning.
Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office 2010 suite.
Ability to communicate effectively. Fluent in English language, both written and spoken.
Able to understand technical documentation unambiguously.
Previous experience with RAF HAMPA or TAMPA.
Understanding of directory and sub-directory architecture.
Knowledge of database systems and processes.
Knowledge of BAE Systems organisation with practical experience of BAE Systems procedures and processes.
