Basic Function
Performs a variety of technical and non-technical functions under the direction of Dental IRC Technician. Assists in all areas in CSS and OR that require CSS technician support.
Scope
The work is in Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Dental Services centers in Dhahran, Al Hasa, Udhaliyah, Ras Tanura, and Abqaiq.
Under the direction of a Dental IRC Technician, receives, decontaminates, sorts, wraps, sterilizes, stores and distributes dental/medical surgical supplies and equipment. Responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment and instruments. May be assigned to other duties as required in CSS unit.
Is a shift worker as required. Work is performed in any JHAH CSS facility.
Principal Contacts
Routine daily contact with CSS staff, hospital and clinic staff, and auxiliary dental/medical personnel. Occasional contact with clinicians and customers. Daily contact with Dental IRC Technician and/or Supervisor Dental IRC.
Principal Duties
(a) Works under direction of a registered nurse, or Dental IRC Technician.
(b) Maintains current knowledge base and seeks new lea
ing experience.
(c) Demonstrates ability to complete all functions normally provided by the CSS Technician in both Processing and Dispensing areas.
(d) Receives, checks, logs in and decontaminates used instruments and equipment.
(e) Sorts, checks, wraps and sterilizes reusable instruments and equipment.
(f) Retrieves par level carts, fills par level carts and delivers them to the units.
(g) Checks the storage shelves, orders supplies and restocks the shelves. Checks inventory daily, or as per established schedule on specific assigned par level carts.
(h) Receives ordered supplies, checks the receiving document to identify shortages or damaged items.
(i) Fills out work request for equipment needing repair and forwards request to maintenance and/or clinical engineering.
(j) Checks all sterile non-expendable items for outdates.
(k) Retrieves contaminated articles and delivers them to decontamination area.
(l) Performs all duties assigned by the supervisor.
(m) Attends in service programs (Unit and Hospital based), and complies with the Unit and annual mandatory competencies.
(n) Maintains confidentiality of patient record and activities.
(o) Lea
s and keeps current with the name of equipment, supplies, and pharmacological agents and is familiar with location of same.
(p) Maintains awareness of safety hazards and takes necessary action to prevent accidents.
(q) Maintains Professional License
Education
Completion of 12th Grade High School and 2 year diploma course in Allied Health Institute or
Completion of a 12-month unit and hospital orientation / competency based training program approved by Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Nursing Department.
Experience
Work experience required is up to 3 years as Central Supply Services Technician in any approved medical facility.
Certifications/Other requirements as applicable
Holds a valid Ministry of Health License
Basic computer skill is desirable. Working knowledge of spoken and written English.
Spoken Arabic is desirable.
