Job Description
Role Purpose:
To oversee the implementation of safety programs and secure approval on updated procedures and manuals within the ATM Directorate in order to develop a safety culture and monitor the safety performance within the set KPIs, agreed budgets, adopted policies and procedures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:
Safety Performance Management:
-Monitor, assess and report on the safety performance and effectiveness of all departments, centers and units; recommend corrective actions to address any risks and deficiencies
-Drive safety improvement initiatives across the department and encourage staff to propose potential improvements to ensure that SANS achieves and exceeds its safety targets and objectives
-Ensure that safety and safety management documentation is readily available and accessible to all ATM staff, document and share lessons lea
ed and provide technical expertise on all safety related issues and inquiries
Coordination & Communication:
-Coordinate with Safety Officers in Centers and ATS Unit Management conce
ing initial safety incident investigations and data collection related to any alerts or similar occurrences in order to prevent future incidents and improve the safety management program
-Coordinate with SQE conce
ing Safety Audits & Investigations being conducted within the Directorate in order to facilitate their job and ensure that they have all needed information to perform effectively
-Liaise with SQE to ensure the effectiveness of all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the ATM Directorate to guarantee safety, legislative compliance and delivery of high quality services
-Liaise with SQE to secure approval on new or updated procedures or manuals and ensure that any changes to the organisation are properly reviewed to ensure that there is no negative impact on safety

Education
• A bachelor’s degree in Air Traffic Control or equivalent is required
