Managerial Accountabilities:
Ensures all direct reportees have personal objectives and KPIs which cascade down the department deliverables, regularly reviews performance and provide annual performance rating for his direct reportees.
Plans and monitors training needs, provide professional coaching to reportees to ensure that they have the professional capability to fully deliver in their role and that they are working on a personal development plan.
Motivates employees and monitors employee satisfaction within his area and plans and executes plans to improve it.
Ensures staff in place to perform the required tasks.
Functional Accountabilities:
Responsibilities:
Identify format specific customer needs and define target customer.
Translate category platform strategy plans into procurement request for central buying.

Customer insights:
Analyse the customer survey data (including mystery shopping) from marketing to build assortment and activities for his/her sub-category according to customers' expectations.
Market development:
Collate Future trends and innovations as per market situation and potential for the category with vendors data.
Competition benchmark:
Monitor Competition survey for offline and online.
Category role:
Execute the strategic sub-category aligned with defined roles in accordance with the overall company positioning and market chances.
Product, Category strategy and development:
Design the category dimensions & planograms according to the overall company strategy and format customer needs.
Develop latest trends in products by sub-category and customer patte
s.
Range:
Updating & defining the range to meet format specific customer requirements.
Develop and respect QA related aspects including Supply Chain by sub-category.
Pricing:
Setting sales prices / Margin responsibility for sub-category.
Monitor competition for sub-category.
Margin management:
Set competitive sales price / margin settings based on market constraints and market potentials.
Constantly monitor net net net purchase prices (COGS) and take corrective actions for his/her sub-category.
Platform strategy:
Design and update “Lego like” sets for different purpose (e.g. core, seasonal, destination…) to create efficiencies into assortment building by sub-category.
Innovations:
Actively search new business opportunities, business models, services or products.
Test, local listing and roll out.
Promotion:
Develop and set offers / promotional activities (including in-store) and forecast quantities by sub-category.
Marketing:
Execute category-related 360 marketing plan for all channels in alignment with marketing & CRM department.
Suppliers review:
Analyse & present inte
al data and score card system and market intelligence for KPI based supplier negotiations (tu
over, stock, working capital, format specific trade terms…) by sub-category.
Role of Vendor:
Operate as per defined vendor's role wrt format/category.
Stock:
Maintains and propose corrective actions for stock levels, stock tu
s and stock availability by sub-category.
Negative Working Capital:
Manage increased stock tu
s to achieve negative working capital.
Trade terms:
Comply with the negotiated trading terms for all sub-categories in respect of company compliance.
Sales planning:
Distribute and assign the yearly plan and detail with key activities for all sub-categories.
Waste (Fresh):
Control waste in collaboration with stores and ensure freshness, proper quantity planning and pro-active price management by sub-categories.
Weekly store visits:
Weekly visit on business and tu
over development potentials, getting aware of issues and proposing corrective actions.
Category competencies platform:

Planogram Support:
Implement planograms in the format.
