- Review and interpret physician's drug order for clarity, rationality, dosage form, allergies, interactions, incompatibilities, and contraindications. Process the medication orders using the Pharmacy information system. Compound and dispense medication order in accordance to Pharmacy Department's established policies and procedures. Prepare and or supervise the preparation of parenteral nutrition and sterile preparations including chemotherapeutic agents. Check the dispensed medication prior to delivery. Monitor drug therapy for appropriateness of drug, dose, route, and duration of therapy. Process and handle patient financial charges. Oversee the work of Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and support staff during the assigned shift. Maintain control and security of all drugs including dispensing, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications. Perform periodic physical inventory counts and handles inventory items that have reached the expiration date or are recalled. Provide drug information to healthcare providers, students,and patients. Demonstrate the ability to suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alte
atives to medical staff, as needed. Perform monthly inspections of the medications storage area in nursing units and clinics; reports comments to Pharmacy area supervisor.
Be punctual for duties and tasks and follow directions of Section Head. Comply with all organization and section policies and procedures, and be accountable for all actions. Display positive attitude towards colleagues and superiors and take initiative regarding tasks and responsibilities. Be innovative with the tasks at hand. Always adhere to the organization's dress code, personal hygiene and professional appearance. Be adaptable to changes in the organization or procedures, and motivate others to do the same. Demonstrate problem solving skills, and always ensure accuracy and high quality of work. Ensure that productivity level is in accordance with expectations, and show commitment to the job and organization.
