Job Description

Job Purpose:

Provides Anatomic Pathology consultations at inte
ationally accredited Laboratory in a University

Hospital, offering primary to tertiary care, education and research.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Performs duties in accordance with the Joint Commission of Inte
ational Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHD and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz university Hospital (KAAUH) policies and safety standards, and ensure the established departmental policies and procedures are in compliance with all mentioned accreditation bodies.
Assists in the interpretation and correlation of laboratory data for patient management according to KAAUH standards.
Assists with the development and validation of new laboratory assays in the assigned division of laboratory.
Supports the Head of Department in maintaining the tu
around times of laboratory tests and written pathologist reporting within the established laboratory goals.
Implements, maintains, and documenting all laboratory manuals, policies and procedures, safety standards, Quality Control/Assurance measures and all related standards according to national and inte
ational such as Joint Commission of Inte
ational Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI).
Participates in all educational programs within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Supervises, trains, teaches, pathology methodology and procedures, under guidance of pathologist, to the students, residents, and others.
Encourages and participates in approved research projects according to established policy.
Serves on KAAUH committees as requested.
Assists in providing supervision and development of direct reports. Interviews, hires, trains, employees, plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
Respects patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
Recommend to the senior management with regard to long-term planning of the Laboratory
Services and its research activities.
Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at KAAUH.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills
and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.


Qualification and Experience:

Education and Professional Certifications/Licenses:

MD and/or Ph.D. with Board/Fellowship Certificate in Anatomic Pathology recognized by SCHS and acceptable to KAAUH.

Preferred:
American, Canadian, European, board certification or equivalent with more than five (5) years' experience in CAP, CBAHI accredited Lab.

Experience:
Three (3) years post board certification in Anatomic Pathology.
