The Link Management Systems (LMS) Coordinator is a specialist appointment designed to maximise the effectiveness of Multi Tactical Data Link Networks. The job holder is responsible to the Typhoon Operations Manager, through the Operations Support Team Leader, for enabling a coherent tactical picture through real-time planning, management and analysis of Link 16 and other operational tactical data links. Also to manipulate the network in such a way as to fulfil the operational needs of participants in line with the RSAF C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) needs.
JOB ACCOUNTABILTIES
The job holder is accountable for the following:
To maintain a robust accurate LMS network so platforms can exchange data and complete missions.
To monitor the network to ensure Link 16 connectivity and that it is being operated in conjunction with the extant national restrictions.
Responsibility for short range planning of day to day Link 16 operations.
To ensure Link 16 presents the real-time tactical situation display, status of each network participant and over-all network performance and health.
Regular liaison with relevant RSAF and civilian agencies.
Ensure that the Typhoon aircraft obtains optimum use of the Link 16 network with the correct programming of the MIDS.
Completing any other reasonable duties or requests that are made by the line management.
To understand the status of communication between all LMS users in particular Link 16 participants and manipulate the network in such a way as to fulfil the operational needs of participants, in line with the C4ISR needs.
Adherence to Link 16 Network Design including reassigning network bandwidth or assigning bandwidth to unplanned participants; maintaining situational awareness of all participants.
Recognising platforms that, for some reason, cannot participate in the network, and developing solutions to address the deficiencies.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
Practical experience of Link Management Systems including Link 16 network management with proven extensive experience.
An understanding of Typhoon Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS).
The ability to act upon his own initiative within the scope of his job.
A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail.
A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
Desirable
Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures and industry knowledge.
Proven experience within the aerospace industry preferably gained on Typhoon aircraft.
RECRUITMENT
The job holder should have the following background:
A proven record of LMS in particular Link 16 as a network manager (a minimum of 3 years).
A thorough understanding of Typhoon MIDS.
A Full understanding of the OPTASK LINK.
Experience of the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS).
The ability to provide Joint Interface Control with other network managers.
The ability to rapid plan dynamic management and accurate analysis of theatre communications during real-world operations.
Demonstrable experience working with aircrew on a busy operational flying squadron.
High level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a number of activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making.
Previous experience of working effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
The ability and capacity to adapt to rapidly changing customer demands.
Experience in the preparing and presenting of high quality briefings to key stakeholders.
