Associate Consultant is responsible for providing the care of patients (inpatient) in his/her team/ group maintaining a high-level of professional performance in accordance with: Professional medical ethics Hospital medical by-laws. Laws of Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations according to the departmental quality plan. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: History taking, physical examinations, interpretation of common diagnostic tests and document patient condition on admission in the specified admissions sheet. Can admit patients from the hospital ER after appropriate discussion and approval of the consultant under whose name admission is done. Evaluates new admission and coordinates a plan of investigation to establish a diagnosis and a management course with or without consultant assistance as determined by Head of Department (HOD). Conducts daily ward rounds to all inpatients in the department, on his own and/or as a team with other department staff as determined by HOD. Documents plan of patient management in a legible, accurate, timely manner and maintains appropriate completion of all patients’ medical records. Should seek the advice of or help of the consultant whenever the condition of a patient merits further expertise. Supervises and signs all discharge summaries, death reports and special reports on related patients prepared by the Registrar. Responsible for new admissions to the department presented by the Registrar through the daily mo
ing reports. Participates actively in the on-call duty rotation schedule of the department for patient care and Responds to emergencies and offer medical care and advice on problems related to hers/his specialty. Participates in the delivery of medical care in outpatient services (e.g. O.P.D. and ER.) on his own as determined by HOD. Performs diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to patients in his field of specialty as determined by HOD based on his/her privileges. Supervise the Registrar and junior staff in conducting their duties and responsibilities as designated by the department. Actively participates in the department's educational and training activities, abides by department policies and procedure s as well as hospital by-laws, rules and regulations. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of employee's knowledge, skills and abilities. Skills Demonstrates leadership and administrative skills, Fluent in verbal and written English. Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills. High standards of medical ethics. Sense of responsibility. Is knowledgeable of the Medical by-laws Education 1- Saudi Board, Arab Board or equivalent
