BAE Systems is the UK Gove
ment’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Gove
ment-to-Gove
ment arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Head of Aircrew Training and Gove
ance (HoATG) typically works as part of a Flying Operations function team in the provision of advice and guidance on a range of Flying Operations matters to a business or functional area to meet the operational needs of line management and the business.



JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES



Typically this role works within agreed Flying Operations frameworks and would be involved in the development, implementation and management of Flying Operations policies and processes. The role requires a good and broad professional knowledge, and keen understanding of Military Flying Operations principles and practices, including an understanding of the impact and implications of decisions made, and of relevant flying related legislation.



The delivery of the role will typically be through collaboration with a small team of Military Flying Operations Professionals or is delivered as an individual contributor with subject matter expertise in a key Military Flying Operations discipline.



The HoATG can be called upon to deliver Flying Operations tasks and activities commensurate with their necessary skill set.



The HoATG will be required to accept a Delegation of Authority (DOA) from the Director of Flying Operations to assure BAESSA flying operations compliance with business and contracted mandates.



The HoATG is responsible for promulgating functional processes that assist stakeholders in achieving their mandated requirements through the BAESSA Flying Operations Standard Procedures (FOSP) process document.



The HoATG will engage primarily with the Local Heads of Flying (LHoF) in each flying operation to provide advice on compliance requirements and recommend solutions when issues arise. In discharging this role the HoATG will be required to periodically travel within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to visit relevant flying training operations.



The HoATG will engage across all BAESSA functions and flying projects on matters relating to the recruitment and selection of Suitable Qualified and Experienced (SQEP) flying operations personnel.



The HoATG is the primary point of contact on training matters relating to BAESSA personnel tagged to the Flying Operations function.



The HoATG is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in military flying training operations and will be required to review and advise strategies necessary to assure safety of the BAESSA contracted flying training environment.



The HoATG has delegated responsibility for supporting the identification, documentation and management of Flying Operations’ hazards and risks in each flying project. This is done through the BAESSA Hazard Management Framework where the HoATG has responsibility for assuring Flying Operations Risk Management (FORM) activities.



The HoATG will be required to produce a monthly Flying Operations report detaining Success, Opportunities, Failures, and Threats (SOFT) for the Flying Operations function in its oversight of programmes with flying activities.



RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION



Essential

A Military Flying Instructor Qualification.

Military staff experience at Squadron Leader (or equivalent) level or above in a weste
air force.

Good knowledge of fast jet air operations and aircrew training gained from extensive experience in a military aircraft operations/training environment.

A working knowledge of Air Safety management.

Computer literate and a working knowledge of supported software packages, including Microsoft Office suite together with any other specialist packages necessary to fulfil the task.



Desirable

Educated to Master’s degree level, or equivalent.

Previous employment on SBDCP or Salam, preferably in an air operations role.

Experience and knowledge of RSAF practices and procedures preferably gained through involvement with the Company programmes in KSA.
