End User Systems Administrator Job Type Non-Academic Job Summary End-user systems administrator is responsible for creating working applications and integrating end users into the computing environment. Major Responsibilities Operational/Technical Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems. Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing environments. Performing routine audits of systems and software. Packaging and deploying operating systems, updates, patches, images and configuration changes. Installing and configuring new hardware and software Answering technical queries and assisting first and second level support and end-users, including troubleshooting. Securing the servers and end user systems including system performance tuning Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system. Maintains high customer service standards in dealing with and responding to customer issues and questions. System administration responsibilities can range in complexity from users simply clicking a series of buttons, to writing scripts in a controlled scripting language, to being able to modify and execute code directly. Responsible for installing, supporting and maintaining servers and other computer systems, as well as planning for and responding to service outages and other problems. Other duties may include project management for systems-related projects, supervising or training computer operators, and being the consultant for computer problems beyond the knowledge of technical support staff. Demonstrate a blend of technical skills, ethical judgment and responsibility. Provides individual and/or group instruction and training on computer technologies to faculty and/or staff across all University departments. Reporting Reviews, prioritizes, and processes in supporting systems . Maintains records including problem documentation and actions taken. Escalates any risks and issues to the management. Facilitation Initiates activities to increase security awareness and education. Leads a small team of technicians to deliver a high level of end user support Mentors and guides junior employees (inside and outside the department). Organization Information Technology Division IT Services Technical Skills Expert in Windows and Mac operating systems. Experience in Windows and Mac Deployment solutions. Experience in Directory Services AD/OD. Apple, Microsoft and Linux certifications are highly preferred. Non-Technical Skills or Attributes Autonomy Works under general supervision. Provides supervision to a small team of low level technicians Uses discretion in identifying and resolving complex problems and assignments. Appreciates the wider field of information systems, and how own role relates to other roles and to the business of the employer or client. Required Education BS. Degree in (Computer Science, Information Technology, or any discipline) Required Experience 5 years plus of experience in cross-platform end user systems environment.
