The Senior Business Analyst is a crucial role in Graduate Affairs that provides specialized business analyst direction and support within the area, and is a key liaison role with IT, and the business. This role will often lead IT technical requirement development, recommendations and testing of system developments. The effective integration of our information systems across the areas within Graduate Affairs is an important responsibility of this position as we seek to deliver student services that exceed customer expectations.


Major Responsibilities


• Act as the lead principal technology solution architect or test manager for Graduate Affairs systems In particular, those that impact on core systems and where opportunities to promote student life cycle solutions, providing with business and technical input.
• Manage and lead technology directions and manage IT initiatives for in-house or inte
ational developer teams for Graduate Affairs systems.
• May manage and lead cross functional teams in both inte
al and exte
al to Graduate Affairs.
• Conduct requirements gathering for Graduate Affairs issues that require systemic solutions.
• Review, define and validate possible solutions to opportunities for key process improvements.
• Develop functional specifications for business solutions required by Graduate Affairs that support the automation and student self-service objective.
• Create and support test plans for user acceptance testing.
• Promote business analysis planning and monitoring that will improve organizational efficiency and new process development and automation tools.
• Lead and coordinate the development, prioritization, testing and implementation of all system change requests to IT from Graduate Affairs.
• Lead the analysis and review of the use of the non-academic components of the student system, to improve the efficiency of the operations of Graduate Affairs.
• To ensure the integrity of the data coordinated by the Graduate Affairs Operations team by facilitating data ownership and ad-hoc data quality reviews.
• Lead the recording of procedures in standardized formats to create an overview of core processes.
• Providing advice for appropriate corporate security profiles.
• Ensure system controls and performance is optimal for business requirements.
• Managing, maintaining and developing the knowledge and effectiveness of emerging technologies with potential for deployment within the KAUST’s corporate systems that will deliver significant improvement in the operations of Graduate Affairs.
• To proactively network and undertake environmental scan sector analysis to ensure trends impacting global higher education student systems are incorporated into KAUST policies.
• Leading the education and training of KAUST staff in relation to the student system for non-academic processes.
• Development, maintenance and review of regular reports issued from the student system.



Other Responsibilities


• Provide leadership to other Graduate Affairs team members through exhibiting the characteristics expected of a senior staff member.
• Undertake other duties within the range of skills normally associated with a position of this classification, as required.



Competencies



• Expertise in project management, business analysis and business process reengineering.
• Experience in the development and review of policies and procedures, and the ability to initiate, develop and implement new policies and practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including effective liaison with senior and executive staff and other stakeholders.
• Possess an understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
• Excellent computing application knowledge and skills, including financial packages and Excel.



Qualifications



• Completion of a relevant Business or Information Technology postgraduate qualification, combined with extensive expertise in CRM and ERP systems (preferably SAP).
• Minimum of 7-10 years related experience.
• Sound knowledge and/or experience of university operations and systems.
• Eligibility for membership with a registered professional institute.
